About Quality Function Deployment (QFD)

Quality function deployment represents a system that illustrates the links from customer requirements through product characteristics to manufacturing process control. The system uses multiple steps to make a link between customer requirements and process control.

The QFD system is built from one Pairwise Comparison Matrix (PCM) and four Houses of Quality (HOQ).

The diagram below shows the relationships between each element of QFD.

The output from each HOQ represents the input for the following HOQ. In that way, we can optimize Manufacturing Process Control (House of Quality 4) based on the original customer requirements (PCM).
