Nearly Orthogonal Latin Hypercube Sampling

From Excel click...

QXL Monte Carlo Tab > MSA (Gage R&R) > > NOLHS Design

Quantum XL will generate Nearly Orthogonal Latin Hypercube Samples (NOLHS). The resulting matrices are usually used in a designed experiment with a deterministic simulator (such as Finite Element Analysis or Computational Fluid Dynamics).

To generate an NOLHS design, select NOLHS Design from the Quantum XL menu. Select the number of factors and levels and press the Generate button. The resulting design will be exported to a new worksheet for you to use in a regression-based package (such as DOE Pro).

The generation process can take from several seconds to several hours depending on the size of the design. The average correlation coefficient is displayed during the generation. When the average correlation coefficient goes below .025, the resulting design will have excellent orthogonality in the main effects.

If you use the resulting matrix with main effects only, the typical tolerance values will be greater than .9. If you include quadratic terms, the resulting tolerances are typically greater than .7. If the algorithm can no longer improve upon the orthogonality, it will stop automatically.
