Out-of-Control tests¶
These tests detect a specific pattern of the data plotted on a Control Chart. Each pattern suggests the presence of a special cause of the process variation. If data point fails a test, Quantum XL will mark it with a different color on a chart. For more information check Control Charts OOC.
Out of control tests:
- A point that exceeds control limits (more than 3 standard deviations from the center line). This test is applicable for all Control Charts.
- 9 consecutive points on the same side of the center line. This test is applicable for all Control Charts.
- 6 consecutive points, all increasing or all decreasing. This test is applicable for all Control Charts.
- 14 consecutive points alternating up and down. This test is applicable for all Control Charts.
- 2 out of 3 points in the zone A ( > 2 Standard Deviations from the center line). This test is applicable for the Xbar chart and the Individuals chart.
- 4 out of 5 points in the zone B ( > 1 Standard Deviations from the center line on the same side). This test is applicable for the Xbar chart and the Individuals chart.
- 15 consecutive points in the Zone C (within 1 Standard Deviation from the center line, either side). This test is applicable for the Xbar chart and the Individuals chart.
- 8 consecutive points > 1 Standard Deviation from the center line on either side. This test is applicable for the Xbar chart and the Individuals chart.
Hypothesis tests¶
Set the defaults for all hypothesis tests.
Default confidence level:
Value between 0 and 1. Default value is 0.95.
Default significance level:
Value between 0 and 1. Default value is 0.05. See significance level for more information.
Default display mode:
- Verbose (long)
- Normal (short)
MSA¶
Settings for Measurement System Analysis.
Spread Factor
GRR standard deviation is multiplied by the spread factor. 99% spread has been used to represent the full spread of the measurement error, and it is represented by a 5.15 factor. 99.73% spread is represented by a 6 factor, which represents the full spread of a normal curve.
Alpha to remove interaction term
If the p-value for the interaction term is greater than 'Alpha to remove interaction term', then the Model is considered to be without interactions (additive model). Additive models include only the main effects of Part and Operator; interactions are excluded. This is used only in ANOVA analysis.
CI Level
Confidence interval level used in Effectiveness tables (Attribute analysis – Crosstabulations).
Data Orientation¶
Data can be located in columns or rows.
When user selects a range of cells for analysis, Quantum XL will try to automatically detect data orientation. If one of the rules is met, Quantum XL will not display Data Orientation dialog.
Default rules are:
Data is in columns if:
- User selects 2 columns and 4 or more rows, or
- The number of rows exceed the number of columns by 200
Data is in rows if:
- User selects 2 rows and 4 or more columns, or
- The number of columns exceed the number of rows by 200
Protect charts¶
Some charts (histogram, box plot...) are complex and should not be edited manually. Quantum XL implements one of the following strategies in order to prevent modification of the X and/or Y for such charts.
Lock charts
Quantum XL will protect all charts that have axes that should not be modified. Charts are protected must be unprotected before they can be edited or moved. Additionally, you can choose to display notice below chart to remind you not to rescale the axis.
This is default option, and recommended if you are sharing your workbook with users who don't have Quantum XL.
Show pop-up message
All charts are left unprotected. When you click on the axis of a chart that should not be rescaled a warning will be displayed. Additionally, you can choose to display notice below chart to remind you not to rescale the axis.
ONLY FOR ADVANCED USERS. Sharing your charts with users that don't have Quantum XL is not recommended.
No protection
All charts will be left unprotected. A notice will be placed bellow the chart reminding you not to edit axes that should not be scaled.
