Covariate Pattern¶
Covariate patterns are the individual patterns in the rows of the design (or historical data). Unique covariate patterns are the number of unique rows. For example, the design below has 8 covariate patterns; however, there are only 7 unique covariate patterns as runs 1 and 2 are identical.

The ability to identify unique covariate pattern is important in binary logistic regression, nominal logistic regression, and when building the S-hat model for Least Squares regression.
